Tl dr I can open a password protected word doc in Dropbox if I explicitly select the option to open it in Word Online, but if I just click on the document's name, the password is deemed incorrect. I have not tried any other variations like clearing the cache or using a different browser, since I already found a workaround for my purposes. I was also able to open the document fine in the Dropbox App on my iPhone. I use an (apparently fully updated) Chrome on Microsoft Windows 10 Education and have a basic account with storage almost all filled up. I know that it was in fact the correct password because when I instead tried selecting the 'Open in Word Online' option, I was able to open the document with the same password after I selected reading mode on the subsequent prompt (I also tried this several times). At this point, there is a prompt This document is password protected. I then received a password prompt and entered the correct password, but as soon as I pressed the enter key (or submit), the dots representing the password disappeared (perhaps the password I entered was erased somehow?) and I was told that the password was incorrect (I tried this several times with the same result).
